Day 5 Huaraz – Carhuaz – Yungay - Nationalpark Huascarán B-L
On the way to Carhuaz we will pass by many small and in recent times
founded villages. We will stop at the rose garden planted where once the old
town Yungay was, which is now burried under meters of earth and stones like
an Andean Pompei. From there we have a wonderful view to the mountain
Huascarán.
Visit of National Park Huascarán with its beautiful blue shimmering mountain
lakes. If you want you can be rowed across the lake Laguna Llanganuco, make
a short walk or relax at the lake shore.
For lunch we will go to one of the local restaurants near the park tasting some
regional specialities.

Day 6 Carhuaz – Cañon del Pato – Trujillo (Huanchaco) B-D
Drive to Trujillo via Cañon del Pato, the Duck Canyon, which is traversed by
the Santa River. The way is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Peru
due to the contrasts presented by the deep blue Santa River which is not only
constantly changing its colour but also its velocity. On its long way to the coast
the landscape allowed the formation of nice sand beaches in some places, not
only good for ducks to get a rest.
A highlight for technology fans is the huge hydroelectric power plant in the
river
At the end of the canyon the coastal desert is waiting for us. Today's
destination is Huanchaco, located at the Pacific Ocean and a paradise for
surfers.
